Steve Marsh

A funeral Mass for Steven F. Marsh, 87, of Dickinson, will be 11:00 a. m. , Monday, January 19, 2015 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with Father Todd Kreitinger celebrating. Inurnment will take place at a later date in St. Mary’s Cemetery in South Heart. Visitation for Steve will be 4:00 p. m. -7:00 p. m. , Sunday, January 18th at Stevenson Funeral Home in Dickinson with a rosary and vigil service being held at 6:00 p. m. Steve passed away Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at St. Joseph’s Hospital. Steve was born January 6, 1928 in Dickinson, the son of Frank and Mary (Buresh) Marsh. Growing up he attended grade school in New Hradec and graduated from Dickinson High School in 1946. Steve married Bertha Wanner on April 17, 1951 in St. Bernard’s Catholic Church of Belfield. They were blessed with five daughters, Cindy, Charlotte, Sandra, Donna, Patty and three sons, Bruce, Steve Jr. , and Dale. Steve took over his father’s farm northwest of Dickinson, which he farmed for 32 years before retiring and moving into Dickinson. While farming, he drove school bus for nine years for South Heart Public School. In his retirement, he delivered meals and was a bus driver for Elder Care for five years. Steve enjoyed listening to and taping old time music, as well as building model cars and airplanes. He especially enjoyed visiting his children and grandchildren and spending winters in Arizona with his brother, Bob. Steve loved any type of chocolate that he could get his hands on. Steve is survived by his sons, Steve Jr. (Angie) of Sturgis, SD, and Dale (Rachel) of Wahpeton, ND; daughters, Cindy (Richard) Gustafson of Cross Lake, MN, Charlotte Ulmer of Dickinson, Sandra (Ed) Wahl of St. Cloud, MN, Donna (Robert) Paluck of Dickinson, Patty (Kevin) Wilson of Aurora, CO; 13 grandchildren, four step-grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; brothers, Edward (Betty) of Yucca Valley, CA, and Bob (Jean) of Port Ludlow, WA; sisters, Harriet (Albert) Kostelecky of Rancho Mirage, CA, and Marcella (Jerry) Larson of Portland, OR. He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank & Mary; wife, Bertha; son, Bruce; grandson, Levi; brothers, Laudie, Frank, Albert and Sylvan; sisters, Mary Hurick, Betty Beyer, Emma Ridl, Tillie Frenzel, Dolly Hahn, and Janice Speak.
