Mass of Christian Burial for Steve Splichal, 86 of Bismarck, ND formerly of Dickinson, ND and Albany, OR will be 10:00a. m Tuesday, August 18, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Dickinson with Father Jim Braaten presiding. Interment will be in the St. Wenceslaus Cemetery under the direction of the Stevenson Funeral Home of Dickinson. Military rites will be presented by the Dickinson Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 9 a. m. to 9 p. m. , Monday, August 17, 2009 at Stevenson Funeral Home with Rosary and Prayer Service taking place at 7:00 p. m. Steve P. Splichal was born on December 4, 1922, in Dickinson, ND the son of Anton and Emilie (Kostelecky) Splichal. He grew up and attended schools in Dickinson. Steve served in the Civilian Conservation Corps in 1941 and served in the U. S Army in 1947-1948. After serving in the army, he returned to work on the family farm. Steve was united in marriage to Edith Ridl, on July 7, 1953, in New Hradec, ND. He worked for Culp Truck Line and later worked for Buckingham Trucking, Barber Trucking and finally MidWest Trucking, all in Dickinson. Steve drove truck for 21 years. He also worked construction, and spent 12 years working at the ND State Highway Department until his retirement in 1990. His wife, Edith, died on October 18, 1992 and Steve remained in Dickinson until 1997. Steve married Lillian (Binstock) Sadowsky (formerly of Dickinson) on June 21, 1997, in Albany, OR where they made their home. In July of 2007, Steve moved back to North Dakota, due to health reasons. Steve was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church of Dickinson, ND, and was a 4th degree Knight of Columbus. Steve enjoyed fishing, playing cards, bowling, gardening, yard work, fixing and building things, playing games and spending time with his family. He especially enjoyed playing his accordion for family and friends. Steve also spent time making rugs, playing the organ, and playing pool. Steve died on Friday morning, August 14, 2009, at the Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center in Bismarck, ND, from a Parkinson?s related illness. He is survived by: his wife, Lillian Splichal, Albany, OR; three sons, LaMoyne Splichal, Denver, CO, Daryl (Mary) Splichal, Mandan, ND and Jeffrey Splichal, Clackamas, OR; his three daughters, Stephanie Williams, Fairview, MT, Theresa (Tom) Moltzan, Green River, WY, and Bernadette ?Bernie? (Jay) Knaebel, The Woodlands, TX; his brother, Jim (Mary) Splichal, Dickinson, ND; his five sisters, Mary Wolberg, Emma Sadowsky, Dorothy (Bob) Ficek, all of Dickinson, ND, Lillian Dobitz, Billings, MT, and Aggie (Joe) Wandler, New England, ND; his seven grandchildren, Amy Splichal, Kyle Splichal, Ashley Moltzan, Connor Moltzan, Hillary Knaebel, Hana Knaebel, and Brandi Splichal; his many nieces and nephews; Lillian?s children; Ron, Diane, Dennis, Pam and their families. He is preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Edith, five brothers, Joe, Tony, Vince, George, baby brother, Wilem, and son-in-law, Steve Williams.
