He grew up and attended schools in Baker, graduating from BHS in 1966 and was the first athlete to play in the East-West Shrine game in

In 1971, his daughter Barb was born and in 1975 Shelly joined the family. He adored them, took great pride in raising them and sharing in their accomplishments. They made their home in Baker where he began his oilfield career working for D&D Oilfield, Shell Oil, Encore Operating and transitioning for Denbury Resources until his retirement in 2011. He was a member of the School Board, serving as Chairman for 10 of his 15 years there. He ran a small cattle operation for 34 years, which was his pride and joy until he retired due to
declining health.

He is survived by his wife Bonnie of 50 years, his daughter Barb (Franco) Multari, grandchildren Estella and Luca; daughter Shelly (A.R.) Morris, grandchildren Caitlin and Paige; sister DiAnn (Bob) Hollar, nephews Wally (Gayle) and Dan (Judith); brother Gerald (Connie), nephews Shan (son Brayden), Kris (Sarah, Fallyn and Scarlett), Ryan (Julia, Savannah and Paxton); Cousin Roy (Erin) Lutts, Ashlyn, Riley and Keara; brother-in-law, Wayne (Betti) Freier.
