Steven Ihli, 54, of Killdeer, passed away Thursday, April 16, 2015 at the VA Health Care System, Fargo, North Dakota. In accordance with Steven’s wishes, cremation has taken place and no services will be held. Steven Andrew Ihli was born September 15, 1960 in Jamestown, ND, the son of Marcus and Theresa (Hoerner) Ihli. He grew up and attended school in Velva until he was in 7th grade. His family then moved to Sawyer where he graduated from Sawyer High School in 1978. Steven enlisted in the US Navy where he served for five years; working as a gas turbine mechanic. In 1984, he was honorably discharged and remained on the east coast where he worked for Fry Communications for 18 years. It was here that he met Shari Troutman. Steven and Sheri were united in marriage on October 31, 1990 in Mechanicsburg, PA. To this union their son, Dakota Thor Ihli was born. The family moved back to North Dakota in 2003, settling in Killdeer where they have made their home since. Steven worked for Dish Network for several years before retiring due to ill health. Steven enjoyed spending time outdoors fishing, working in his garden, and woodworking. He was an avid Minnesota Vikings Fan and loved to watch their games. Steven is survived by his wife, Shari of Killdeer; son, Dakota of Fargo, ND; sisters, Janice Ihli of Fargo, ND, Carol Elsbury of Rolla, ND, Mary (Roby) Taylor of Sioux Falls, SD, Kathleen Ihli of Thief River Falls, MN, Dolly Branley of Bismarck, ND, Geraldine Hientz of Sawyer, ND, and Julie (Art) Grove of Gardners, PA; brothers, Wilbert, of Minneapolis, MN, Nick (Angie) of Beulah, ND, and Donald (Shirley) of Lansford, ND; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marucs and Theresa Ihli; and two brothers, Frank and Gerome.
