Sylvia McCamish, 98, of Baker died on Sunday, February 2, 2003, at Dahl Memorial Nursing Home, Ekalaka. Funeral Services are Friday, February 7, 2003, 11:00 a. m. at St. Elizabeth?s Lutheran Church, Baker. Interment will follow in Beaverlodge Cemetery. Visitation is Thursday 8:00 a. m. to 7:00 p. m. at Stevenson-Mischel-Olson Chapel of Baker. Sylvia McCamish, 98, passed away Sunday, February 2, 2003 at the Dahl Memorial Healthcare in Ekalaka. Sylvia was born January 2, 1905 in Alzada, MT the oldest daughter of Thomas and Rosa (Wise) Johnston of Ridgway, MT. Sylvia attended the country grade school and graduated from Carter County High School, Class of 1924. In October of 1924, she was united in marriage to Herbert J. McCamish at Miles City. The first years of their married life they worked for her uncle, John Johnston. They then had a contract rural mail route for four years until they purchased the Carmack place at Ridgway. Here they lived, ranched, and raised their family. They retired in 1969 and moved to Ekalaka to make their home. Sylvia was an avid baseball fan and watched her husband; children and grandchildren participate in the sport. She was also a long time Chicago Cubs fan. She was fortunate to enjoy good health and had never been hospitalized until the age of 92 years; she fell and broke her hip. Sylvia has been a resident of Dahl Memorial Nursing Home since that time. Sylvia is survived by her sister, Myrtle Yates of Ekalaka; her children: Maxine (Bud) Dally of Pinehurst, ID, Herb Jr. (Georgetta) McCamish of Baker, Tom (Mary) McCamish, Areatha Penn, both of Ekalaka, and Rose Ann (Bill) Harfst of Elizabeth, CO; sixteen grandchildren; and numerous great and great-great grandchildren and many other relatives. She is preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Sr. in 1975; daughter, Fern Way; sisters: Vera Dyer and Cecil Myles; grandson, Casey Penn; and three son-in-laws: Billy Gergen, Ewald Klevgaard and Leroy Bud” Penn. “”ylvia McCa”
