Graveside service for TheaLou Laird, 72, will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 19, 2015 at the Beaver Lodge Cemetery.


TheaLou passed away, Wednesday, December 16, 2015 surrounded by family at her home near Ekalaka, MT.


TheaLou Powell was born March 11, 1943 in Harrison, NE, the daughter of George W. and L. May (Homrighausen) Powell. She grew up and attended school in Carter Co. and Ekalaka, graduating in 1961. She married her husband Erlend Laird on July 1, 1961 in Sturgis, SD. To this union, three children were born; Ande Kay, Robert Dixon and Scott Ryan. Together, they ranched and raised their family in the Chalk Buttes area.


TheaLou enjoyed working outside with Erlend, woodworking, calving, hunting coyotes, farming, raising a huge garden, canning and painting. TheaLou and Erlend both shared a love of flying, and she learned to fly as well. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed hosting her family for all their gatherings.


TheaLou is survived by her husband of 54 years, Erlend; children, Ande Kay (Dennis) Kortum of Ekalaka, Robert Dixon Laird of Ekalaka, Scott Ryan (Tammi) Laird of Baker; very special member of the family, Becky Erickson and her children, Jasmine & Justin; grandchildren, Nathan (Becky), Amanda, Shannon (Keith), Melinda, Jake, Douglas, Scott, Brandon, Chelsey; great-grandchild, Liam; and sisters, Joan (Bruce) Smith of Billings, Janet Lutz of St. Ed, NE and Debra Anderson of St. Ed, NE, and numerous nieces and nephews.


She was preceded in death by her parents, George W. and L. May Powell.


In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Ekalaka EMT’s.
