Funeral Services for Thelma Reems, 93, of Killdeer, ND, is 11:00 a. m. , Thursday, December 1, 2011 at St. John?s Lutheran Church, Killdeer with Pastor Steve Schou officiating. Burial will be in the Oakdale Cemetery north of Killdeer. Visitation will be Wednesday, November 30, 2011 from 2:00 p. m. to 9:00 p. m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p. m. at Stevenson Funeral Home, Killdeer. Visitation will continue on Thursday one hour prior to the service at St. John?s Lutheran Church Killdeer. Thelma passed away on Friday, November 25, 2011 at the Hill Top Home of Comfort in Killdeer. Thelma Margaret Reems, was the first born child to Tom and Mabel (Bergerud) Bang on September 26, 1918 at Tom?s homestead east of Killdeer. In 1928, the Bang family moved to behind the mountain northwest of Killdeer. After attending country school, Thelma finished her education at Model High School graduating in 1937 and went on to receive her Teaching Certificate from Dickinson State Teachers College in 1939. While teaching at various country schools, she became attracted to the mailman, Harold Reems. Harold and Thelma were married, December 21, 1941. Thelma & Harold farmed, ranched and raised their four children, Terry, Mavis, Wanda and Ricky north of Killdeer. After Harold?s death in 1984, Thelma moved to Killdeer where she made her home until entering Hill Top Home of Comfort in 2001. Thelma was devoted to her family. She loved to sew for them and later used her talent for quilting for family members and church groups. Thelma loved to play cards and socialize with friends and family. Thelma was active as secretary-treasurer for Oakdale School District, Grand Worthy Matron in Order of Eastern Star and Mother Advisor for Rainbow Girls. She was a member of the Mountain View Homemaker?s Club and a lifetime member of St. John?s Lutheran Church, Killdeer. Thelma is survived by her children, Mavis (Gary) Jepson, Killdeer, ND, Wanda (Tim) Dorner, Sonora, CA and Rick (Linda) Reems, Killdeer, ND; a daughter-in-law, Barb Reems, Killdeer, ND; 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, 12 step great-grandchildren; a sister, Shirley Frerck, Billings, MT and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold, a son, Terry, a granddaughter, Beth Reems; four brothers, Orris, Dale, James and Thorvold Bang and a sister, Lois Teske Keller.
