Funeral Mass of Christian Burial for Theresa Erker, 89, Dodge will be held at 10:00 a. m. Wednesday, April 15, at St. Paul?s Catholic Church, Halliday with Rev. Jim Shea as celebrant. Burial will be at St. Martin?s Cemetery south of Dodge. Visitation will be Tuesday from 3:00 pm to 9:00 pm with rosary being recited at 7 p. m. Tuesday at Stevenson?s Funeral Home in Dickinson. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church in Halliday. Theresa passed away April 10, 2009, at her home in Dodge, NDTheresa was born December 23, 1919, in rural Dodge to Anton and Anna (Funk) Schumacher. She attended country school in rural Dodge. On November 13, 1939, she married Joseph Erker in St. Martin?s Church. They made their home on a farm south of Dodge before moving to Dodge. Theresa worked as an assistant cook for several years at the Dodge Public School, taught CCD classes for many years and was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She often mentioned the wonderful opportunity she was given to attend several summer sessions at the University of Mary to enhance her CCD teaching. She was a member of St. Paul?s Catholic Church, a member of the St. Paul?s Ladies Altar Society, and the Halliday Red Hats Club. She loved playing cards and was very competitive. She enjoyed her last card party as recent as Monday, April 6, 2009. She enjoyed sewing and crocheting in her earlier years and after the death of her husband, began painting with water colors. She loved her little home in Dodge, her yard and flowers and dear friends and neighbors in Dodge. She is survived by four daughters, Lenora (Patrick) Hall, Bismarck; Corrine (Murray) Presley, Daphne, AL; Theresa (James) Streifel, Ellsworth, WI; Jonita (Dean) Allmendinger, Wahpeton; one daughter-in-law, Judy Erker, Beulah; 23 grandchildren; 36 great grandchildren plus another one expected in May; and 2 great, great grandchildren; two brothers, Joseph(June), San Diego, CA; and Bernard (Mary Kay) Bismarck; one sister, Mary (Peter) Bogers, Sequim, WA; one sister-in-law, Anna Ehlis, Dickinson; one brother-in-law, Ed Ziman, Dickinson; and numerous nieces and nephews. Theresa was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Joseph, two sons Charles and infant son, William; six brothers, Frank, John, Tony, Leo, Adam and Nick; one sister, Francis Slag; three infant brothers and three infant sisters.
