A Funeral Mass for Thomas E. Jensen, 85, of Dickinson, will be 10:00 a. m. , Thursday, October 16, 2014 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Dickinson with Msgr. Patrick Schumacher celebrating. Entombment will follow at the Dickinson Mausoleum. Visitation for Tom will be 2:00 p. m. to 7:00 p. m. on Wednesday, October 15th at Stevenson Funeral Home (new location-2067 1st St W) in Dickinson with a rosary and vigil service being held at 6:00 p. m. Tom passed away Monday, October 13, 2014 at St. Alexius Hospital in Bismarck, ND. Thomas E. Jensen was born September 18, 1929 in Minot, ND to Ellsworth and Margaret (Galvin) Jensen. He attended elementary school in Mountrail County and graduated from high school in Omemee, ND. He then attended and graduated from Minot State College in 1950. He later received a Master’s degree from the University of Northern Colorado and an Ed. D from the University of North Dakota. He served in the US Army from 1950-52. On August 28, 1954, Tom married Joyce Allex at Epiphany Catholic Church in Watford City, ND. The couple was blessed with one daughter and five sons. Tom taught and was administrator at Antler, Maxbass and Bisbee, ND. He joined the faculty of Dickinson State University in 1966. He served for 10 years on the Trinity School Board. Tom also served on the St. Joseph Hospital and Health Center governing board. He was a member of the North Dakota Teachers Professional Practices Commission and on the Executive Board of the Dickinson United Way. Tom received the Dickinson Chamber of Commerce Educator of the year award in 1991 and the Blue Feather Award from Dickinson State University in 1992. He was also a member of the Elks, Knights of Columbus and a member of St. Patrick’s Parish. He enjoyed all local sports, golfing and he was an avid Cubs Fan. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Tom is survived by his wife, Joyce; six children, Kay (Bill) Berg, Dickinson, Michael (LuAnn) Jensen, Missoula, MT, James (Deidre) Jensen, Denver, CO, Charles (Elena) Jensen, Denver, CO, Bruce (Brenda) Jensen, Jamestown, and Steven (Christine) Jensen, Katy, TX; 16 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; one sister, Donna Christen, Minot. He was preceded in death by his parents and one granddaughter. Memorial contributions may be made to DSU Foundation and Trinity High School.
