Funeral Mass for Thomas A. Schaff, 44, of Belfield will be held at 10:00 a. m. , Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, Belfield with Father William E. Ruelle, celebrating. Burial will follow in St. Bernard’s Cemetery. Visitation for Thomas will be held from 4:00 p. m. to 6:00 p. m. , Monday, September 29, 2014 at Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson with a prayer service being held at 6:00 p. m. Thomas passed away at his home in Belfield. Thomas A. Schaff was born November 21, 1969 in Dickinson, ND, the son of Frank and Eloise (Henderson) Schaff. Tommy graduated from Belfield High School. He then enlisted in the Navy where he was stationed at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, serving a four year term before returning to his childhood home. He served one year in the National Guard and was an active member of the American Legion. He was also employed as a welder for BNSF for the past 15 years. Tommy always loved the outdoors. Enjoying activities such as fishing at the lake, trying to talk someone into riding his parasail; and hunting. He was also a devoted MN Vikings fan. But his real passion was family and friends. He could always make people laugh and put a smile on their face. He was a man with a kind soul and a gentle heart who was always there to help a perfect stranger or assist a friend in need. Tommy is survived by three brothers, Frank Jr. (Paulette) of Belfield, Adam, of Colorado, and Edward of Forest City, IA; one sister, Louise (Scott) Anderson of Forest City, IA; sister-in-law, Kathy Schaff of Belfield; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Eloise Schaff; brothers, Roy Schaff, Dale “Pat” Schaff, and Michael Schaff, and sister-in-law, Teri Schaff.
