Funeral Mass for Tillie Ficek, 99, of Dickinson will be 10:00 a. m. , Monday, September 15, 2014 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church with Msgr. Patrick Schumacher celebrating. Burial will follow in St. Wenceslaus Cemetery. Visitation for Tillie will be from 4:00 p. m. to 8:00 p. m. , Sunday, September 14, 2014 at Stevenson Funeral Home (2067 1st Street West), Dickinson with a rosary and prayer service being held at 7:00 p. m. Tillie passed away Thursday, September 11, 2014 at St. Benedict’s Health Center in Dickinson. Tillie was born April 20, 1915 in Dickinson, the daughter of John and Theresa (Kubik) Kadrmas. She grew up on the family farm northeast of Dickinson and attended Tabor School in Dunn County. On December 28, 1932, Tillie and Isadore Ficek were united in marriage at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Dickinson. To this union four children were born: Gladys, Grace Modest, and Georgie Ann,. Together the family moved to a farm 10 miles southeast of Manning. After 24 years, the couple moved to Dickinson. Tillie worked at the Dickinson State University Cafeteria for 15 years. Due to failing health, Tillie moved into St. Benedict’s Health Center in 2013. Tillie loved to spend time fishing and playing cards. Tillie was known for making Kolache, Rohlichy and pickles; which everyone enjoyed. She was a great gardener and seamstress; whether mending or sewing a garment. Tillie is survived by her children, Gladys Kostelecky, Grace Hondl, Modest (Rosemary) of Dickinson; Georgie Ann Ficek, all of Dickinson; 11 grandchildren, Gary (Charlotte) Hondl, Georgia (Ron) Obritch, Jimmy Hondl, Daryl (Sheila) Kostelecky, all of Dickinson, Karen (Dave) Cerise, Prior Lake, MN, Cheryl (Allen) Roshua, Glen (Brenda) Kostelecky both of Dickinson, Bryan (Kayla) Kostelecky, Bismarck, Cyndee (Kevin) Schmidt, Susan (Brian) Sadowsky, both of Dickinson, and Douglas (Roxanne) Ficek, of Manning; 21 great-grandchildren, five step-grandchildren; and 18 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Isadore in 1988; her parents, John and Theresa Kadrmas; one brother, Edward; two sisters, Beatrice and Mildred; two sons-in-law, George Hondl and Art Kostelecky; and one great-granddaughter.
