Funeral Services for John Thomas ?Tom? Ferrel, 93, of Baker, MT will be 11:00 a. m. , Friday, September 19, 2008 in the Chapel of Stevenson Funeral Home, Baker, MT with Pastor Bruce Kolasch officiating. Interment will follow in the family lot of the Ollie Community Cemetery, Ollie, MT. Visitation will be 1:00 p. m. to 8:00 p. m. on Thursday, September 18, 2008 at Stevenson Funeral Home. Tom passed away on Tuesday, September 16, 2008 at Fallon Medical Complex in Baker, MT. Tom was born June 16, 1915 at Cabin creek, north of Baker, Mt, the son of George and Elizabeth Pettit Ferrel. He married Irene Rost from the Ollie Community in 1937. They divorced after 23 years. As a young couple, they lived in a sheep wagon near Clark, WY for a short period of time. Tom worked for the railroad before being employed as a welder for Montana Dakota Utilities (now WBI). He worked on the pipelines in Mt, WY and the Dakotas. He retired in 1978 after 34 years of service. He traveled to Paris France, Hawaii, Canada, and the Southwestern United States with his daughters and son. He was able to make at least three trips to CA to meet three great grandchildren, compliments of his granddaughter, Brigitte. Tom enjoyed his family and always went the extra mile for all his children and grandchildren. He was a very compassionate and loving person and was thought of as the ?Salt of the Earth? by those closest to him. He was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution. He loved reading about history, watching the news (especially political events) on TV and he truly enjoyed pie and ice cream!Tom is survived by: a son, David (Marlene) Ferrel, Baker, MT; daughters, Myrna Obert, Lead, SD, Cheri (Bruce) Ziebart, Bainbridge Island, WA, Kim Keehn, Deadwood, SD; thirteen grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren; three step-daughters, Judy (Wayne) Schmidt, Billings, MT, Sharon (Jim) Zwinger, Sykeston, ND, Lin Wiseman, Wibaux, MT; three sisters, Ruth Perry, Spokane, WA, Gen Morrison, Livingston, MT, Ellen Gonsioroski, Baker, MT; one brother, Charles, Baker, MTHe is preceded in death by: both parents, an infant son, Larry; brothers, George, Emil and Allie; two sisters, Dollie Kinsey, and an infant sister, Nina; a great grandson, Brandon Briceno and a son-in-law, Harold ?Dude? Obert.
