Funeral Mass for Anton “Tony” Metz, 92 of Dickinson will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 24, 2005 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with Father Austin Vetter celebrating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, August 22, 2005 from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Stevenson-Mischel-Olson Chapel. Visitation will continue on Tuesday from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary and Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m. at Stevenson-Mischel-Olson Chapel. Wednesday visitation will be from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at the Chapel. Tony passed away Saturday, August 20, 2005 at St. Luke’s Home in Dickinson. Tony was born December 19, 1912 on the family farm in Stark County, the son of Joseph and Margaret Haag Metz. He grew up and attended country schools. Tony worked with his parents on the family farm Northwest of Dickinson. Tony married Celestina ?Sally? Wolfe on July 10, 1934 at St. Joseph?s Catholic Church in Dickinson. They made their home on a farm Northwest of Dickinson where they raised their family. Tony worked on the farm, had cattle and farmed for many years. He enjoyed breaking and working with horses all of his life. In August of 1973, Tony and Sally moved to Dickinson where they retired and made their home since. Due to failing health, Tony moved into the Evergreen Home in September of 2004. He was a member of St. Patrick?s Catholic Church, the German Hungarian Club, St. Anthony?s Club where he enjoyed dancing and playing cards with his friends and was a Golden Eagle Member. Tony especially loved and enjoyed the company of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include five sons: Lester (Marilyn) Metz of Taylor, ND, Vernon (Joan) Metz of Dickinson, ND, Richard (LaRae) Metz of Stayton, OR, Tony (Margie) Metz of Dickinson, ND and Joseph (Patti) Metz of The Woodlands, TX; three daughters: Sally (Kenneth) Berger of Dickinson, ND, Virginia (Daniel) Knaup of Dickinson, ND and Silvia (Melvin) Schoch of New England, ND; 26 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Sally; a son, Willard Metz; a daughter-in-law, Dorothy Metz a grandson, Keith Berger, six brothers and two sisters.
