Travis passed away Monday, February 10, 2014 in Dickinson. Travis was born September 10, 1987 in Auburn, WA, the son of Shawn and Valerie (Friedt) Landis. He grew up and attended schools in Dickinson and South Heart, graduating from SHHS in 2006. Throughout his younger years, he looked forward to spending time in the summer at “the farm” (Val & Jeanette Friedt’s). Following graduation, Travis worked for a short time in Maryland before returning to Dickinson and going to work at the Karsky Dairy farm. He later went to work in the oilfield for a couple of companies, currently working in the rodbasket on a workover rig for Outback Well Service Inc. Travis loved to hunt with his dad and his brothers and he was always willing to guide others. He also loved working on motors, as well as getting his Derby cars ready. His longtime companion and love, Desirae Doe, was the mother of his son, Lane. The pride and joy of Travis’ life was his son. Special times for Travis were times spent hanging out with his two brothers, his parents, and extended family. He will be remembered as being a dare devil at trying anything. If you said it couldn’t be done, he would prove that it could be done. Most of his motorcycle riding was on one wheel. Mike Miller and Jordon Simek were great friends who were usually at Travis’ side through derbying, mischief and fun. Travis, being the first born son, holds a special spot in Shawn and Valerie’s heart. Travis is survived by his son, Lane Michael Landis; parents, Shawn and Valerie; brothers, Trent of Dickinson and Tayler of South Heart; grandparents, Val and Jeanette Friedt of Mott and Trevor Landis of Mott; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Mary Jo Rebel.
