Tyler passed away on Wednesday, January 25, 2012, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Dickinson as a result of a massive heart attack.

Tyler Barry Plummer was born on November 14, 1978, the son of Boyd and Susan (Cameron) Plummer in Bowman, ND. He grew up on the family ranch north of Baker, MT, and attended school there, graduating as valedictorian of the class of 1997. Tyler began wrestling at a very young age. He wrestled through high school for his beloved Baker Spartans. Tyler was also kicker for the Baker Spartan football team. According to Tyler, it wasn’t because of the kicker that they never won a championship. He enjoyed golf and played on the golf team as well. Tyler’s college years began at Dickinson State University where he received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration along with a degree in Accounting. Tyler began his accounting career with TMI in Dickinson. While working, he completed his CPA exam and received his Masters Degree in Business Administration through the University of North Dakota. Tyler was considered tall, slender and somewhat shy by nature but was able to meet Annika Grace Nelson and over the next four years and finally proposed. They decided to elope and were united in marriage at the Ridgeway Lutheran Church located in the Prairie Outpost Park in Dickinson on August 27, 2009. Throughout his seven years with TMI, Tyler loved his “girls” that served with him on the TMI FACT team. In October of 2011, he began working for Wylie Bice Trucking of Killdeer and was enjoying the challenges and rewards of a new job. Tyler always felt he was well known for his role as a stunt double in the major motion picture “Wooly Boys” which was filmed in the Medora and Beach area. Many times you could hear Tyler talking about his acting career. Tyler loved to talk wrestling with his dad and knew wrestlers from all of the surrounding states, both in high school and college. Together they have attended many state and national wrestling tournaments around the country. Tyler helped Coach O’Donnell at DSU keep new hopefuls in sight (recruits) and was integral in setting up and running the wrestling tournaments for Coach O’Donnell. Tyler was proud to own 40 acres of land south of Dickinson and worked very hard to make it his own. He was so pleased to have space to train and work with his horses. Tyler and Annika built up their land with a barn, corrals, shelter belts and a home. He was very diligent about maintaining his trees, and often he and Annika would remark on how fun it would be to watch them grow each year. Tyler loved being with his two young nephews and niece and they definitely loved being with their Uncle Ty. Tyler always had an eternal quest for a perfect (easy-pour a.k.a. illegal) gas can and the perfect well fitted socks that stayed in their place. He had a wit and charm that made you smile when he grinned back at you. His sense of humor left you laughing and it was easy to love this tall, slender, somewhat shy by nature man.

He will be dearly missed by his wife, Annika (Nelson) Plummer, Dickinson, ND; his parents, Boyd and Susan Plummer, Carlyle, MT; sister, Jennifer (Dey) Obrigewitch and their children, Birch, Coll and Kate, Beach, ND; his father and mother-in-law, Rodney and Teri Nelson, Almont, ND; brother-in-law, Lafe (Sara) Nelson, Almont, ND; his grandmothers, Rosemarie (Bob) Dahlman, Baker, MT, and Marjory Plummer, Billings, MT.

He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Terry Cameron and Gus Plummer; Uncle Barry Plummer, and Aunt Linda “Liz”  Wade.

The family requests memorial gifts be made to the Tyler Plummer Wrestling Scholarship fund that is established with the DSU Foundation, 230 Eighth Avenue West, Dickinson, ND 58601 or the Dickinson Ambulance Service, 42 B Ave East, Dickinson, ND 58601.
