Funeral service for Valentine ?Val? Schwindt, 69, of Kersey, CO, formerly of Killdeer, ND will be 10 a. m. , Saturday, February 21, 2009 at St. Joseph?s Catholic Church, Killdeer, ND. Burial follow at the Killdeer Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 pm. – 9 p. m. , Friday, February 20, 2009 at Stevenson Funeral Home, Killdeer, ND with a Rosary and Prayer Service taking place at 7:00 p. m. Val passed away Tuesday, February 17, 2009 at the North Colorado Medical Center Greeley, CO. Valentine ?Val? Edward Schwindt, Kersey, CO was born February 14, 1940 in Dickinson, ND to Edward and Theresa (Heiser) Schwindt. He grew up on his family farm south of Dunn Center, ND. In March of 1953, he and his family moved to Killdeer, ND where he graduated from Killdeer High School in 1957. He served in the U. S. Army from May 1957 to May 1959. On September 26, 1960 he married Shirley Nupen. With this union, three sons were born. They later divorced. Val moved to Colorado in 1969 where he owned S & B Road Boring for more than 30 years. He married Sandy Rejda on September 3, 1982. This later ended in divorce. Val had a special place in his heart for all his dogs and cats that lived with him throughout the years, they will miss him. Val is survived by his three sons: Dennis Schwindt, Greeley, CO; Kevin (Patti) Schwindt, Evans, CO; Douglas (Debbie) Schwindt, Greeley, CO; seven grandchildren: Jenni Rocklage & fianc? Clay Simpson, Evans, CO, Jessica Montoya and Amy Schwindt, St. Paul, MN; Michael & Christina Schwindt, Evans, CO; and Devin & Shannon Schwindt, Greeley, CO. He is also survived by three sisters: Florine (Alex) Lazorenko, Linda (Rick) Reems, and Jackie Olson, all of Killdeer, ND, and many nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind three special caretakers: Liz, Annette and Bubba. His parents and a sister Angeline Chays preceded him in death. A celebration of Val?s life in Colorado will be held at his farm at a later date
