Velma Susanna Hoke, 96, of Baker, Montana passed away July 28, 2004 at Quality Personal Care Baker. She was born on December 24, 1907 the daughter of Henry O. and Hattie (Kauss) Foss in Perkinstown, WI. Velma grew up and attended schools in Perkinstown, at an early age she bean working for area farmers doing anything from housekeeping to milking 29 head of dairy cows, In July of 1933 Velma married Francis E. Goodwin in Wisconsin They moved to Baker in August of 1933, together they operated the Commercial Caf? in Baker from 1934 to 1938, they also farmed east of town. In August of 1941 they moved to Baker where they built their home. In 1950 Francis passed away in Miles City. Velma married Harry H. Hoke on August 12, 1952 at Jefferson County, Montana. She worked at the Kit Kat Klub in Baker from 1952 to 1962. Even though Velma retired in 1962, she still continued to help many older folks in Baker area. Velma enjoyed cooking, gardening and being with her friends. She was one of Jehovah?s Witnesses and attended the Kingdom Hall in Baker. Velma was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, seven brothers and four sisters. Survivors include a nephew Gerald (Evelyn) Kallenbach of Medford WI, niece Gertrude Soine of Minneapolis, MN and many friends.
