Vera Markel

Funeral service for Vera Markel Dickey, 81, of Dickinson, ND will be 1 p. m. , Thursday, August 21, 2008 at Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson with Deb Howie officiating. Burial will follow in the Dickinson Cemetery. Visitation will be 11 a. m. to 9 p. m. , Wednesday, August 20, 2008 at Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson and continues Thursday, 8 a. m. to 12 p. m. prior to the service. Vera passed away August 18, 2008 at St. Alexius Medical Center, Bismarck, ND. Vera Grace was born June 25, 1927 to Edward H. and Agnes Markel on the family farm in Dunn County, ND. She attended rural grade school and graduated from the eighth grade in 1942. Due to Vera?s father?s ill health, she helped out on the farm until his death in 1963. She then cared for her mother and together they moved to Belfield and later to Dickinson in 1971. Vera obtained her GED in 1974. Her mother, Agnes, passed away in 1991. Vera and Ed Dickey were united in marriage in 1994. They made their home in Lake County, PA. Due to failing health, she returned to North Dakota which she loved so much. Vera enjoyed baking, crocheting, embroidery, knitting, tatting and visiting with friends. She also loved going on picnics, drives in the country and animals. She is survived by: Raymond Markel, Bernice Mueller, Joey Hildebrand and numerous cousins. Vera is preceded in death by: her parents; her husband Ed and numerous relatives.
