Funeral services for Verdean Meidinger, 59, of Dickinson, will be 1:00 p.m., Friday, December 21, 2018 at Stevenson Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Janel Kohler officiating. Burial will be held at a later date. Visitation for Verdean will be held one hour prior to the service.
Verdean passed away surrounded by family on Monday morning, December 17, 2018 at CHI St. Alexius Health, Dickinson.
Verdean was born December 1, 1959, in Wishek, ND, the son of Marvin and Delores (Just) Meidinger. He grew up on the family dairy farm and attended Wishek High School, graduating in 1979. In 1981, Verdean moved to Dickinson and began his welding career with Steffes, Inc. Verdean was a creator, working mainly in manufacturing and repair. His career highlights included working across the country in Nevada, Alaska, Hawaii, and Arizona – always making time to visit family in the process.
On July 25, 1987, Verdean married Shelly Baar. Their marriage was blessed with three sons: Tyson, Tanner, and Jordan. Together they raised their family in Dickinson. Verdean was an outdoorsman and a past member of the Roughrider Archers. He truly enjoyed spending time with his family camping and fishing, attending archery events with his sons, and sharing his love of hunting with his children. Verdean’s creative passion was displayed in his shop with ingenious inventions and metal art.
Verdean is survived by his mother, Delores Meidinger of Wishek; wife of thirty-one years, Shelly of Dickinson; daughter, Lindsey Rusch of Bismarck; sons, Tyson and Tanner (Katelyn) of Dickinson, and Jordan of Fargo; granddaughter, Addilee (Tanner); brothers, Clyde of Minneapolis, MN, Craig (Heather) of St. Paul, MN, Michael (Kristi) of Dickinson; sisters, Michele Meidinger of Amery, WI, Valentina (Guydon) Dandrea of Maple Grove, MN as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
