Funeral Services for Vernon Hoffer, 56, Dickinson, will be 10 a. m. Friday, December 7, 2007, at St. Joseph?s Catholic Church, Dickinson with Fr. Dennis Schafer, celebrating. Interment will be in the St. Joseph?s Cemetery, Dickinson. Visitation will be on 12 noon to 9 p. m. on Thursday, December 6, 2007 at Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson with a rosary and vigil at 7 p. m. Vernon passed away on Sunday, December 2, 2007 at the St. Benedict?s Health Center in Dickinson. Vernon Hoffer was born on February 5, 1951, in Dickinson, the son of Robert and Gladys (Flyberg) Hoffer. He was raised on the family farm in Regent, until he went to Grafton State School. From there he moved to Minot, where he worked at the Minot Vocational Workshop. Then he moved to Dickinson, where he lived at the ARC housing and worked through the ABLE Workshop at Steffes Manufacturing, Army?s West and a few other businesses in town. Vernon took great pride in his jobs. Vernon enjoyed bowling, camp recreation, watching WWF Wrestling, westerns, Johnnie Cash music, monthly dinner-dances and socializing with his friends, especially Leroy Candrian and Rolland Bauer. Vernon also loved his family very much and was always very special to them. He is survived by his mother, Gladys Goudy, Dickinson; two brothers, Terry (Maria) Hoffer, Billings, MT, Robert (Shawn) Hoffer, Hettinger, ND; three half-brothers, Jim (Tammra) Huether, Dickinson, Mark (Laura) Huether and Ray Huether, Minot, ND; five sisters, Angie Ostenson, Fargo, ND, Linda (Mark) Brakke, Coon Rapids, MN, Judy (Bill) Therrien, Laporte, CO, Pam Nester, Bowman, ND, Ellen (Daryl) Mann, Dickinson, and numerous nieces and nephews and their families. He is preceded in death by his father, Robert Hoffer and Grandparents Christ and Elizabeth Hoffer and John and Lula Flyberg. May they and he rest in peace.
