Funeral Mass for Veronica Steckler will be 1:00 p. m. , Friday, September 23, 2011 at St. Patrick?s Catholic Church in Dickinson, ND, with Father Todd Kreitinger, celebrating. Burial will follow in St. Patrick?s Cemetery, Dickinson. Visitation for Veronica will be from 1:00 p. m. to 9:00 p. m. , Thursday, September 22, 2011 at Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson, with a rosary and prayer being held at 7:00 p. m. Veronica passed away Thursday, September 15, 2011 at Rolla Manor Care Center in Rolla, MO. Veronica Steckler was born April 7, 1924 in Elgin, ND, the daughter of Jacob and Rose Marie (Barth) Steckler. She grew up and attended school in Elgin, Taylor and Richardton. In her early years, Veronica worked as a waitress. Veronica was a very loving mother and raised five children: Ted, Marian, Fred, Dale and Mark. In 1952, Veronica received her GED in Dickinson and went on to receive her LPN training at St. Joseph?s Hospital that same year. After working for 40 years, she retired from St. Joseph?s Hospital in 1992. She also assisted with cleaning at St. Patrick?s Catholic Church. Veronica was an avid reader and enjoyed playing BINGO, embroidery and completing picture puzzles. She loved to be around babies and animals of all kinds. Veronica was a member of St. Patrick?s Catholic Church and LPN Nurses Association. Veronica is survived by her daughter, Marian (Gene) Cerney; sons, Ted (Irene), Fred (Ruth) and Mark (Mary); brothers, Nick and Bill Steckler; ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jacob and Rose Marie Steckler; son Dale; and five brothers, Alex, Mike, John, James and George. The family prefers memorials to the American Cancer Society for cancer research.
