Funeral Services for Victor Buerkle, 76, of Baker, will be 1:00 p. m. Friday, July 22, 2016 at Stevenson Funeral Home, Baker, MT, with Pastor Bruce Kolasch officiating. Burial will follow at the Community Union Cemetery, Plevna, MT. Visitation will be from 11:00 a. m. to 1:00 p. m. Friday, July 22, 2016 at Stevenson Funeral Home, Baker. Vic passed away Monday, July 18, 2016 at St. Vincent Healthcare, Billings, MT, after a long illness. Victor Buerkle was born April 1, 1940 to John and Louisa (Knopfle) Buerkle, in Odessa Russia. At an early age, Vic moved with the family to Poland and later Germany. When Vic was eleven, he and the family moved to Melburn, FL and then to Plevna, MT. The family eventually settled in Baker where Vic attended Baker High School. He worked several years for Herb Bertsch at the Service Station in Baker before enlisting in the United States Army. After being discharged he returned to Montana where he worked at several jobs until settling in with the Montana Department of Transportation. Vic retired in 1992 and moved to Las Vegas, NV for several year before returning to Baker, where he has lived ever since. Vic enjoyed watching television and going out for coffee. He was a member of the Baker American Legion Post #35. He is survived by his sister, Erna Greenlee of Baker; nephews, Larry, John and Jeff Greenlee all of Baker. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Larry Greenlee.
