Victor Semerad was born January 11, 1911, in rural Dickinson to John and Anna (Frenzel) Semerad. He attended rural school and worked on the family farm until his marriage to Emma Kostelecky on October 30, 1933. They moved to Dickinson in 1935. Victor began his career at Farmer?s Union Oil Company and became manager in 1943. He retired from Farmer?s Union in 1963, and continued work as a rural mail carrier at the Dickinson Post Office for seven years. He was the first Farmer?s Union Insurance agent when it was organized. He was a charter member of Cooperative Credit Union, a honorary member of Knights of Columbus Club, Golden Age Eagles and Catholic Workmen. Victor enjoyed gardening, working with wood, fishing and playing cards with friends and family. He adored his grandchildren: Dale Warner, Gary and Kim (Warner) Williams, Justin and Cathy Semerad, Heidi Semerad, and Tracy and Nichole (Semerad) Tooz; and his great grandchildren: Vicki Warner, Casey and Andrea Williams, Joseph Semerad, and Braden and Keaton Tooz. Victor was a loyal and protecting husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. To those fortunate to know him, he was a good-humored and warmhearted man. He will be missed by all. He is survived by his wife, Emma; one daughter Elaine Warner and special friend Jim Savage, Rapid City, SD; two sons;Gary (Shirley), Palm Desert, Calif. , Dennis (Lynn), Quincy, Illi. ; one brother, Edward (Alice), Spokane, Wash. ; one sister, Dorothy Kudrna, Dickinson; two sisters-in-law, Mary Kudrna and Anna Urbanec, both of Dickinson; five grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a step-father; one son-in-law, Bob Warner; two brothers, Adolph and Vincent Semerad and eight sisters, Rose, Margaret, Justine, Emma, Eleanor, Jenny, Josephine and Minnie.
