Burial will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be 10:00 a. m. ? 4:00 p. m. , Thursday, June 4, 2009 at Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson and will continue from 5:00 p. m. ? 9:00 p. m. at St. Joseph?s Catholic Church with Rosary and Vigil service at 7:30 p. m. Visitation will continue on Friday, from 8:00 a. m. to 9:30 a. m. on June 4, 2009 at Stevenson Funeral HomeVincent passed away June 1, 2009 at St. Benedict?s Health Center, Dickinson, ND. Vincent A. Dolecheck was born September 22, 1918, the son of Joseph and Anna (Filipi) Dolechek on the family homestead southeast of Dickinson. He grew up and attended country school. Vincent worked on the family farm until entering the US Army on September 25, 1941. He received his basic training at Camp Roberts in California before being shipped to the Hawaiian islands. Vincent served in the Asiatic Pacific Theater in the infantry as well as a heavy weapons machine gunner. Sargeant Dolechek served 4 years and 5 days before being honorably discharged at Ft. Lewis, Washington. Vincent returned to North Dakota where he began farming on the Dolechek homestead. Vincent was married to Celestine Urlacher on February 5, 1946 in the St. Joseph?s Catholic Church in Dickinson, ND. Together they farmed and raised cattle for the next 44 years. Vincent was proud that he was able to repair all of his own machinery along with his farm work. Vince and Celestine moved into Dickinson where they have made their home for the last 21 yeas. Being a farmer at heart, he enjoyed planting trees, gardening and keeping up his yard. He also liked to do woodworking, read and play the accordion. Vince was a 4-H Leader for K. D. W. 4-H Club, member of the Happy Co-op Local where he served as president and secretary. He served for 18 years on the Farmers Co-op, and as secretary for 9 years. Vince was the inspector for the voting machines for 18 years. He was an active member of St. Puis Verein and St. Anthony?s Club and a lifetime member of St. Joseph?s Catholic of Dickinson. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Celestine of Dickinson; a daughter, Betty Jane (Norman) Helvig, Minneapolis, MN; a son, Raymond Dolechek, Casper, WY; three grandchildren, Mike Helvig, Laura (Tony) Hand, both of Minneapolis, MN and Kirk Dolechek, stationed in Hawaii; three sisters, Eleanor Walter, Milwaukee, WI, Anna (Frank) Walter, Dickinson, ND and Dorothy Steier, Dickinson, ND. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Mary Dukart and her husband Peter; a sister, Christine Dolechek, a brother, Jospeh Dolechek; brother-in-laws, Peter Walter, Clarence Steier and Leo Urlacher. Memorials may be given to a charity of your choice.
