Viola Schaff, 73, Dickinson, died Monday, June 26, 2006 at St. Benedict?s Health Center, Dickinson. Mass of Christian Burial will be 1 p. m. , Friday, June 30, 2006 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Dickinson, with Fr. Jeff Zwack celebrating. Interment will be St. Bernard?s Cemetery, Belfield. Visitation will be 12 noon to 9 p. m. , Thursday, June 29, 2006 at Price-Murphy Funeral Home, Dickinson, with a prayer service at 7 p. m. led by Deacon Al and Marge Hibl. Viola Heiser was born July 3, 1932 in Fryburg to Frank and Lena (Schwindt) Heiser. She attended school in Fryburg until the school closed. She lived in Fryburg until her marriage to John Schaff, then moved to Belfield. She lived there until 1998, when she moved to Dickinson. She stayed at home and answered the phone for her husband?s propane business. At home she had her own sewing business where she made clothing for people. She was an excellent seamstress. She made many wedding, bridesmaid and prom dresses. She worked as a waitress at Hugelen?s Truck Stop after her children were raised. She then went to work as a housekeeper at the Bel Vue Motel in Belfield until she retired. She was a member of St. Bernard?s Catholic Church and St. Francis March Guild. She enjoyed baking, cooking, sewing, flowers, gardening, reading and playing cards. She loved babysitting her grandchildren and playing cards or baseball with them. She enjoyed visiting her sisters and brothers and always had a house full of relatives that she made sure were all fed. She is survived by: one daughter, Nita Northrop, Belfield; three sons, Jack Schaff, Tacoma, WA, Melvin (Shelly) Schaff, Mesa, AZ, and Duane (Sandy) Schaff, Bismarck; five grandchildren, Cody and Jay Northrop, Bryant and Morgan Schaff and Richard Schaff; four great-grandchildren, Brett, Dylan, Karli and Jazzy Northrop; four sisters, Eva Howard, Golva, Maggie (Clem) Schaaf, Scranton, Emma (Vic) Steinmetz, Big Timber, MT, and Rose Heiser, Bismarck; two brothers, Bob (Pat) Heiser, Hot Springs, SD, Frank ?Fritz? (Leona) Heiser, Watford City, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by: her parents; son, Bernie; sister, Marion; grandson, Jacob Schaff, and great-grandson, Matthew Northrop.
