A funeral service for Viola Stenseth, 95, of Ekalaka, MT will be 11:00 a. m. , Friday, October 31, 2014 at Stevenson Funeral Home, Ekalaka with Tom Stieg officiating. Burial will follow in Beaver Lodge Cemetery. Visitation for Viola will be from 10:00 a. m. to 11:00 a. m. , Friday, October 31, 2014 at Stevenson Funeral Home, Ekalaka. Viola passed away Sunday, October 26, 2014 at Dahl Memorial Health Care in Ekalaka, MT. Viola was born in Livingston, MT on April 19, 1919 to John and Bertha (Cady) Gould. She graduated from Park County High School in Livingston and attended business school. She moved to Ekalaka to accept a job with The Farm Security Agency. Viola married Ernest Stenseth on November 9, 1941 in Baker, MT, and to this union four children were born: Roger, Monte Lou, Sheri Lynn and Ross. Viola worked at the Drug Store in Ekalaka for several years before going to work at the Treasurer’s Office. After serving as Carter County’s Treasurer, she retired and continued to live in Ekalaka until entering the Dahl Memorial Nursing Home in December of 2011. Viola was musically talented, as she played the piano and organ at countless weddings, funerals and Sunday services. She enjoyed playing cards and planting flowers each spring. Viola was very involved in her children’s and grandchildren’s lives. She will be remembered for her kind heart and willingness to help others. Viola is survived by her two sons, Roger of Livingston, MT and Ross (Chieko) of Missoula, MT; daughter, Monte Lou (Duge) Munro of Ekalaka; brother, Jack (Bergland) Gould of Monument, CO; sisters, Janice (Ray) Murphy of Las Cruces, NM and Catherine of Springville, UT; 13 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Bertha Gould; husband, Ernest; daughter, Sheri Lynn and son-in-law, Joe Howell; daughter-in-law, Cheryl Stenseth; brother, Dan Gould; sisters, Fern Crowford and Alberta Titus.
