Funeral Services for Viola Obritsch Woehl, 84, of Dickinson, will be held at 9:00 a. m. Saturday, October 16 2010 at St. Joseph?s Catholic Church with Father Keith Streifel, celebrating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph?s Cemetery, Dickinson. Visitation will be 11:00 a. m. to 9:00 p. m. Friday October 15, 2010 at Stevenson Funeral Home in Dickinson with a Rosary and Prayer Service at 7:00 p. m. Viola (Obritsch) Woehl, 84, passed away peacefully on October 13, 2010, with hospice care at the Evergreen Assisted Living home in Dickinson, ND. Mass of the resurrection will be held at 9 am on Saturday, October 16, 2010, with the Reverend Keith Streifel officiating. Burial will be at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery, Dickinson, ND. Viola Wock was born on the family farm 9 miles north of South Heart, in Stark County, ND, on July 9, 1926, the oldest of twelve children, to Michael and Rose (Vogel) Wock. She attended a rural country school, receiving her formal education. She married Andrew Obritsch on September 25, 1945, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. They lived on a farm 5 miles southwest of New Hradec, ND. They then moved to the family farm 16 miles southwest of Dickinson where they operated a dairy and grew small grains. To this union were born 12 children. Andrew Obritsch died February 21, 1980. Viola moved to Dickinson in 1984. She married Ben Woehl, Wishek, ND, in 1989, and shared their life together until his death in May, 2002. She moved to Evergreen Assisted Living, Dickinson, in April, 2010, and was a resident until her death. Viola enjoyed life to the fullest, raising a large family and enjoyed opening her home to her family and others, especially for holidays, which were particularly active and noisy on those occasions. She valued life and cherished each one of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She enjoyed painting landscapes, listening to old-time music, and especially enjoyed playing the harmonica and organ. She enjoyed inspirational reading and her Christian faith was at the heart of her life. She will be remembered as having a truly kind, generous heart by those she shared life with. Grateful to have shared her life include her 7 sons and 5 daughters: Marcella (Paul) Riecken, Weatherford, TX; Markus (Joan) Obritsch, Dickinson; Harvey (Kathleen) Obritsch, Gladstone; Ronald (Georgia) Obritsch, Dickinson; Andrea (Frank) Hintz, Dickinson; Robert Obritsch, Dickinson; Sandra (Larry) Fischer, Bowman; Dr. Jerry (Nancy) Obritsch, Bismarck, Wesley (Julie) Obritsch, Lanesboro, MN, Kelly (Dean) Bredeken, Mounds View, MN; and Mary (Quintin) Smith, Hudson, WI, and 21 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. She is survived by 3 brothers and 6 sisters. She was preceded in death by Andrew Obritsch; her son, Richard Obritsch; Ben Woehl, one brother and one sister.
