Funeral services for Virginia Elaine Hoenke, 65, of Ismay, MT, will be 10:00 a. m. , Saturday, March 19, 2016 at the Emanuel Evangelical Free Church in Plevna, MT with Pastor Joe Noel officiating. Burial will take place at 1:30 p. m. in the Custer County Cemetery in Miles City, MT. Family will receive friends Friday, March 18, 2016 from 6:00 p. m. to 8:00 p. m. at Stevenson Funeral Home, Baker, MT. Virginia passed away March 15, 2016 at Holy Rosary Healthcare in Miles City, MT. VIRGINIA ELAINE (COOKE) HOENKE,daughter of Eleanor Cooke and the late Burhl Cooke. Virginia was born October 18, 1950 in Denver, Colorado. She was the third daughter of four girls. The Cookes lived in Hudson, Colorado until 1955. They then moved south of Parshall, Colorado in the ARAPHOE NATIONAL FOREST. In 1965 they moved to Ismay, Montana. In Ismay, she attended Plevna High School and met her future husband and only love, David Hoenke. Virginia graduated from Plevna High School in 1968. Virginia attended Miles Community College, where she received a two year degree in Business and Library. September 1970 David and Virginia were married. They lived in Billings for about a year and then moved to Miles City, where she worked in a bank as a proof operator. In 1972 they moved out to her parent’s ranch in Ismay and have resided there since. David and Virginia had three sons born to this union; David Edward, Ryan Daniel and Terry Lee. Virginia was David’s right hand man on the ranch, while also working part time at the Baker Sales Yard. In 1983 she became the PMR at the Ismay Post Office, eventually moving up to Postmaster there. For a short time she was the Postmaster in Plevna until her cancer forced her to retire in September of 2013. Virginia will be remembered by friends and family as an adoring wife, loving mother, faithful daughter and sister, devoted grandmother and faithful friend. Virginia is survived by her mother Eleanor Cooke of Ismay, MT; husband, Dave Hoenke of Ismay, MT; sons, David (Carridy) Hoenke of Broomfield, CO, Ryan (Ronda Allison) Hoenke of Miles City, MT, Terry (Mindy) Hoenke of Ismay, MT; sisters, Janet (Roger) Marshal of Wellington, CO, Yvonne (Danny) Thompson of Oxford, FL, and Beryl Kay (Sam) Simpson of Johnstown, CO; and 5 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, Burhl.
