Virginia Jardee was born April 23, 1922, at Hill City, Kansas. She moved to Mill Iron, Montana with her parents, Louis Oren and Anna May Hodson Peterson and two older brothers in 1923. Virginia attended grade school at Mill Iron and graduated from Cater County High School, Ekalaka, Montana in 1940. She received a teaching certificate from Spearfish Normal (now BHSU) in Spearfish, South Dakota, and taught rural schools in South Dakota and Montana and was later employed at the First National Bank in Ekalaka, Montana. Virginia and Ivan Reece Jardee were married, December 22, 1946, at Baker, Montana. They ranched and raised their 3 sons and 1 daughter at Mill Iron, Montana and moved to Spearfish, South Dakota in 1996. Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, April 5, 1998, her parents, granddaughter Shawna Jardee Hoover, infant grandson Clint Jardee and brother Louis ?Bud? Peterson. Survivors are sons Gary (Margaret) Jardee, Tom Jardee, and Rusty (Arnina) Jardee all of Ekalaka, Montana, and daughter Marla (Alan) Loken of Whitewood, South Dakota, brothers Carl (Alice) Peterson, Ekalaka, Dan (Jean) Peterson, Glendive, and Dick Peterson, Miles City, sister Eleanor (Bud) Elmore, Miles City, sisters-in-law Anna Jane Peterson, Casper, Wyoming, and Agnes Norman, Los Altos, California, eleven grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Virginia was a member of the Congregational Church (Ekalaka Bible), Ekalaka, Montana, and the Senior Citizens Center of Spearfish, South Dakota. According to Virginia?s wishes, no visitation or funeral services will be held. Following private graveside services at the Beaver Lodge Cemetery, Ekalaka, Montana, with Pastor Jeff Dilks of the United Church of Christ in Spearfish officiating, family and friends are invited to attend a memorial dinner to be held in Virginia?s honor at the Carter County Events Center on August 29, 2011, at 5 p. m.
