Funeral Service for Virginia Ludwick, 89, of Ekalaka, will take place 11:00 am Thursday, October 5, 2023 at Stevenson Funeral Home Ekalaka with Pastor Jim Biswell officiating. Burial will follow at Beaver Lodge Cemetery in Ekalaka.
Virginia passed away on September 28, 2023 in Ekalaka, MT at Dahl Memorial.
Virginia Lee Ludwick (Courtney) was born on June 21, 1934 to James M. and Dorothy (Bischoff) Courtney in Deadwood, SD. She grew up and attended school at Albion Country School thru 8th grade then finished her education at Carter County High School graduating in 1952. Virginia chose to continue her education by attending Billings Business College then Eastern Montana College. She finished her higher education at Black Hills Teachers College in Spearfish, SD in 1953. It was during this time she married Billy Joe Ludwick. They happily added to their family son, Roger and daughter, Jo.
Virginia taught school for one year at Wills Country School and then moved on to work at Southeast Electric Coop until 1973. At this time she decided to stay and help Bill on the ranch. Following Bill’s passing in 1990 she decided to join the work force again and took a job at Carter County Courthouse. She floated back and forth between the Treasurers and Clerk and Recorders office until her retirement in 2011. Virginia enjoyed working but in her free time could be found reading, tending to the many animals she loved and spending time around her grandchildren. She was a proud lifetime member of the Eastern Star Harmony Lodge #127.
Viginia is survived by her daughter, Jo Kittelman; son, Roger (Diana) Ludwick; grandchildren, Heather (Jennifer) Ludwick, R.J. (Tayna) Ludwick, Amber (Hoyle) Fullerton, Tenadore (Elin) Kittelman, Kaine (Kellie) Kittelman; 12 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband Billy Joe Ludwick; parents, James and Dorothy Courtney; brother, James Courtney.
