Beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend of many, Virginia Conover Reichert passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 8, 2012 at St. Benedict’s Health Center in Dickinson.

Virginia was born March 23, 1915 in Chicago, IL, to Mabel DePencier and Frederick Conover. She spent her childhood and early adult life in the Chicago area, graduating from Rosary College in River Forest, IL in 1937. After two years working for Kemper Insurance Company in Chicago, Virginia married Dr. Henry Lawrence (H. L.) Reichert in Chicago on June 10, 1939 and moved to Dickinson, North Dakota. Virginia cherished the next 73 years spent in the beautiful western North Dakota homeland that she truly loved. Virginia never knew a stranger; her closest friends were her contemporaries and later in life, their children and countless others. Her devotion to family was singularly the most important aspect of her life and the other passions that stimulated her most were her religion, reading, traveling, politics, knitting, cooking, the outdoors, film, music and the theater. Ginny will be remembered for her kind and gracious nature, her vitality, her fearlessness, fairness, beautiful smile and classic style.

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, Mabel and Frederick Conover; her husband, Dr. H. L. Reichert; her daughter, Virginia Conover (Connie) Reichert Bartok; and her grandson, John Thomas Bartok.

She is survived by her five children: Dr. Henry Reichert and wife, Mabes, Dr. Timothy Reichert and wife, Mary, Rosemary Gregory and husband, Lon, Thomas Reichert and wife, Pam and Gerald Reichert and wife, Sally. She was certainly an inspiration to her 11 grandchildren, Karen Bartok Browne, Matthew Bartok, Henry L. Reichert IV and Christopher Reichert, Heidi (Reichert) Santucci, Michael, Patrick and Joslyn Reichert, and Elizabeth and Sam Reichert. She was Grandma Ginny to 14 great-grandchildren and spoiled them with the best chocolate chip cookies on the planet.
