Funeral service for Warren Vranna, 86 of Dickinson will be held at 2:00 p. m. , Monday, September 29, 2014 at St. John Lutheran Church with Pastor Cal Oraw, officiating. Burial will follow at the Dickinson Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 3:00 p. m. to 5:00 p. m. on Sunday, September 28, 2014 followed by a prayer service at 5:00 p. m. at Stevenson Funeral Home and Crematory (new location) in Dickinson. Visitation will continue on Monday, from 9:00 a. m. to 11:00 a. m. at the Chapel and one hour prior to the service at St. John Lutheran Church. Warren passed away Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at St. Benedict’s Health Center in Dickinson. Warren Pletan Vranna, was born on September 21, 1928 in Dickinson ND, son of Laudie and Constance (Pletan) Vranna. He grew up and attended schools in Dickinson, and graduated from Shattuck Military Academy in Faribault, Minnesota. He enrolled at the University of North Dakota and furthered his education in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Warren later returned to Dickinson. On January 3, 1949 he was married to RoseMary Malsam in Dodge, ND. To this union seven children were born; Jeff, Russ, Tim, MaryLou, Joel, Sue and Barb. Together they raised their family in Dickinson. Warren worked at KDIX Radio and TV from 1951 to 1984. Starting as a copywriter, he was later promoted to news reporter, sales and manager of the TV station. Warren gave the 9 o’clock news for many years on KDIX TV. He was an Energy Impact Development Director in Bismarck, North Dakota for three years, and finished his career with the North Dakota Department of Transportation: Highway Department located in Bismarck, as well. In the mid-1990s he retired and continued to make Dickinson their home. Warren was part of the St. John Lutheran Church, and a member of the Dickinson Rotary. Warren is survived by his wife RoseMary, sons; Jeff (Dorothy) Vranna of Dickinson ND, Russ (Connie) Vranna of Kent, WA, Tim (Marlene) Vranna of Redmond, WA, and Joel (Beverlee) Vranna of Tacoma, WA; daughters, MaryLou (Bob) Hennes of Laurel, MA, Sue (Mike) Dougherty of Boise, ID, and Barb Vranna of Denver, CO; 9 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Laudie and Constance Vranna; and two sisters, Lorrane Vranna and Marion Vranna.
