Wayne was called home by his Lord on Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at Sanford Medical Center in Bismarck, ND. Wayne “Butch” Gilge was born September 17, 1952, the son of Carsten and Verlyn (Burgess) Gilge and was raised in Halliday. During his early years, Wayne spent time with the big boys, Dale, Harlin and Richard Gilge hauling hay, etc. He graduated from Halliday High School with the class of 1970 and went on to attend Hanson Auto School for two years. It was during this time that he met his soul mate and best friend, Donna. On November 3, 1972, they were united in marriage and blessed with two sons, Aric and Ryan. After returning to Halliday in 1975, Wayne worked for Selle Implement and began farming and ranching. Wayne served numerous terms on the Halliday Elevator Board, Halliday School Board, Our Saviour’s Church Council, Volunteer Fire Department and Ambulance Squad. He enjoyed the challenge of working with the fabrication and restoration of tractors and vehicles; he was able to repair anything. Spending time at the lake, fishing and hunting were special past-times for Wayne but his greatest joy was time spent with his grandchildren and family. In 2003, Wayne and Donna moved to Dickinson. Wayne began working at West Dakota Oil and was currently employed there at the time of his death. Wayne is survived by his wife, Donna; sons Aric (Carmela) and Ryan (Jennifer); grandchildren, triplets, Marshall, Keira & Lucy and Rebekka Gilge; special family, Shannon & Shaun Stroh and family; adopted siblings, Glenn, Barb and Donia. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carsten and Verlyn Gilge; sister, Nora Gilge; and grandparents, Christ & Johanna Gilge, and Roy & Alice Burgess.
