Liturgy of the Word service for Wayne Roshau, of Des Moines, IA, will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at Stevenson Funeral Home with Father Keith Streifel celebrating. Military Rites will be provided by the Dickinson Honor Guard. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Dickinson.
Visitation for Wayne will be from 8:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at Stevenson Funeral Home.
Wayne passed away Monday, January 16, 2012 at his residence in Des Moines, Iowa.
Wayne was born May 15, 1943 in Dickinson, ND to Eugene and Pauline (Reisenauer) Roshau. He attended St. Joseph’s School for 8 years, and graduated from Dickinson Central High School. After high school, Wayne enlisted into the US Navy and was on the ship USS Sproston. He was in the Navy from May 12, 1964 and was honorably discharged May 11, 1969. Wayne worked for F. W. Woolworth in Dickinson, transferring to Bismarck then to Des Moines. When F. W. Woolworth later changed to Woolco and closed, he worked for Guys Potato Chip Co, and later for Highland Chips. Wayne started with the US Post Office in Des Moines from 1998 and retired in 2009. He worked at Central City Liquors and bartended at Izaak Walton Club. Wayne enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. He enjoyed many fishing trips every year with all his buddies from Iowa.
Wayne is survived by his brothers, Donald (Dena) of San Jose, CA, Randy (Karen) of Dickinson, ND; his sisters, Darlene (Don) Sanders, Bonnie (Clyde) Kerner both of Dickinson, ND; many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and step-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Pauline Roshau and brother, Gary at the age of one year old.
Wayne will be missed by all who knew him especially his special friends in Iowa including his two close friends that did a wonderful job helping take care of him during his time of illness, Morrie Ringlieb and Jerry “Shep” Shephard.
