Wayne passed away Saturday, June 2, 2007 at the Fallon Medical Complex in Baker. Wayne Francis Stark or ?Pork? as most of his friends and family called him, was born on February 13, 1928, the son of Earl W. Stark Sr. and Florence H. (Abrams) Stark on the family farm in Fallon County. Wayne was born very premature out on the farm, so they placed him in a shoe box and placed it on the oven door to keep him warm. Pork later grew up and attended the Slater Country School through the 8th grade. He began ranching with his parents as a young man and later developed a partnership with his brother, Earl Jr. In 1962, Pork married his brother?s widow, Mary Stark and together they ranched and raised Mary?s children which he loved like his own. Next to his family, his ranch and his horses were his greatest love. In his younger years, Pork was active in roping clubs, breaking horses and raising good cattle. The family ranch is still operated by his step- son and grandson. Pork enjoyed collecting spurs and bits over the years and his collection grew very large. He always stayed in touch with all of his friends and family via the telephone. At times, his family thought the phone was glued to his hand. The family would like to thank all of Pork?s caregivers while he was in the nursing home and hospital and also for all of his friends and buddies who called or stopped by for a visit. Survivors include, his wife, Mary; two step-daughters, Shari Singer and Gini Knipfer; and a step-son, Rick Stark all of Baker; a sister, Laura (Ted) Bruha, Baker and a brother-in-law, Mike (Esther) Murphy, Baker; six step-grandchildren and 14 step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Earl Jr. ; two sisters, Dorothy Myers Boness and Bernice Stark.
