Wilbert Staiger
Funeral service for Wilbert Roland Staiger, 86, of Hebron, ND will be 10:30 a.m. CDT, Monday, April 23, 2012 at St. John Church in Hebron, ND with Pastor Gaylund Olson officiating. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery.
Visitation for Wilbert will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. CDT at St. John Church on Sunday, April 22, 2012, with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m.
Wilbert R. Staiger was born on a farm south of Hebron, ND on December 10, 1925 to Jacob and Emma (Schatz) Staiger. He attended a rural school and two years at Hebron High. Wilbert grew up on a farm and after marrying Leona Schatz on June 30, 1949 they took over the family farm. He took great pride in his farming and cattle operations with his wife Leona. Wilbert worked hard teaching his two sons, Ron and Don, the work ethic. He showed his love and compassion to his family in many ways. In 1986, Wilbert and Leona moved to Hebron, leaving the farming to his son Don and grandson Jay. He drove the West River Senior Citizen bus for 18 years, was also substitute school bus driver for many years. In between time, Wilbert would help on the farm. Wilbert enjoyed playing Pinochle with friends and attending any sports or school activities his sons took part in, also all the football games on T. V. Wilbert was a member of the Hebron Historical Society, Rural Hebron Fire Department, Germans from Russia Society in which he was proud of his German heritage, St. John U. C. C where he enjoyed singing in the choir, and he was a past member of the Senior Citizens.
Wilbert is survived by his wife Leona; his two sons: Ron and wife Susan, their children Jaeson (Lisa), Cassie and Andrew; Don and wife Robyn, their children Jay (Kristel) Misty (Chad) Curn; two great-granddaughters: Anna Raye and Parker Jane; one brother, Raymond Staiger; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Wilbert is preceded in death by his parents, Jacob and Emma (Schatz) Staiger; one brother, Reinhardt (Frieda) Staiger; one sister, Ruth (Clarence) Roth; mother and father-in law, Andrew and Helen Schatz.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. John Church.
