Funeral service for Wilbur Jepson, 87, of Killdeer, ND will be 10 a. m. , Tuesday December 16, 2008 at St. John?s Lutheran Church Killdeer, ND with Pastor Joel Saurwein officiating. Burial will follow at the Whetstone Cemetery. Visitation will be 1 p. m. to 9 p. m. , Monday, December 15, 2008 at Stevenson Funeral Home Killdeer with a prayer service taking place at 7 p. m. Wilbur passed away December 11, 2008 at St. Joseph Health Center, Dickinson, NDWilbur Loren Jepson was born May 17, 1921 in Dunn County to Carl and Alma (Wilcox) Jepson. He grew up on the family farm and attended the local country school. Wilbur continued to help on the family farm until he joined the CCC?s before entering the service. He served in the US Army during World War II in the Pacific Theatre. Due to injuries he received in battle he was honorably discharged and returned home to the Killdeer area. It was during this time that he met Agnes Sloan and the two were married on May 28, 1948 in Wibaux, MT. The couple raised their family on a farm west of Killdeer for a number of years before moving to town in 1967, and it was here that they made their home ever since. Wilbur drove truck for Standard Oil and later Benz Oil all the while driving school buses on various routes through out the county. In later years, Wilbur worked at the Killdeer Public Schools. His favorite hobbies included gardening, baking and raising his chickens. Wilbur?s biggest enjoyment in life was his grandchildren. He followed their activities, looked after them and worried too often about them. Wilbur was a people person and greatly enjoyed visiting with his friends and neighbors. He was well known for this during the time he spent with his adopted families at Hill Top Home of Comfort and his Dialyses group. He is survived by his sons; Gary (Mavis) Jepson, Loren Jepson, Aaron (Kaylene) Jepson all of Killdeer, ND; daughters, Diane Allmendinger, Dodge, ND, Arden (Clark) Lawlar, Evanston, WY, Joni (Ward) Wing, Killdeer, ND, Connie (Scott) Gilmore, Evanston,WY; 21 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; brother, Clarence (Carol) Jepson, Sparta, WI; sister; Doris Hanssen, Sparta, WI; son-in-law, LeeRay Allmendinger; sister-in-law, Dagmar Sloan, Killdeer, ND. Wilbur was preceded in death by; both parents; wife, Agnes; granddaughter, Jessica Strommen; three brothers and one sister. Family suggests memorials to St. John?s Lutheran Church.
