Wilbur Klatt

Wilbur Leroy Klatt passed away on Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at First Care Living Center in Fosston, MN at the age of 83. He was born October 14, 1932 in Killdeer, ND to John and Pernellie Klatt. He grew up on the family farm north of Killdeer and attended country school. Wilbur entered the Army in 1953 and was honorably discharged in 1955. He was an active member of the American Legion in both Killdeer, ND and Erskine, MN. After the service, he went to work for Moss Trucking in Tioga, ND hauling salt water to the oil rigs. Later he went to work for Northern Tank as a truck driver and as a dispatcher. He retired in 1995 and continued to reside in Erskine, MN. He was active in the community and a member of Grace Lutheran Church. He spent much of his retirement years helping his neighbor with mowing and haying. Wilbur was well liked in his community and will be missed. He enjoyed fishing and hunting in his early years and was an avid fan of the Erskine girl’s high school Volleyball and basketball teams, never missing a game whether it was at home or away. Wilbur was also a horse lover and kept horses on his place in Erskine before he moved into town. Pastor Tim Lundeen from Erskine, Mn will officiate the graveside service which will be held at the Killdeer Cemetery with full military honors on August 20, 2016 at 10:30. Wilbur is survived by 3 brothers, Herman, David (Charlotte) and Richard; 5 sisters, Margaret Hanson, Dorothy Tillis, Shirley (Duane) Hawkinson, Doris Lushbough and Linda (Phil) Reinbold; and numerous nieces and nephews He was preceded in death by his parents John and Pernellie Klatt, 2 brothers Clarence and Leslie , one sister Janice and sister-in-law LaDonna. Stevenson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Family and friends may sign Wilbur’s online guestbook at the funeral home website. A reception and lunch will be follow at the American Legion. The family would like to thank Pastor Tim Lundeen and Randy Lee for their loving care and friendship to our brother Wilbur. Also thanks to Diane and Mike Hoeft and the many others at the local café where Wilbur spent a lot of his time. He told us many times that he had some really good friends in Erskine and enjoyed living there. The family is grateful to all of you who helped make his life happy.
