Wilbur Theophil Martz, age 81, of the Richardton Health Care Center and formerly of Hebron, died February 22, 2009 at the Care Center. It was Wilbur?s request that his body be donated to the University of North Dakota and that there be no funeral services. His ashes will be interred in the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery in Mandan when they return. Wilbur was born August 6, 1927 in Hebron the son of John and Caroline (Voegele) Martz. He was raised and educated at Hebron. In 1943 he entered the US Navy and served in the Pacific. He returned to Hebron in 1946 after his discharge. He attended Barber College in Minneapolis, MN and returned to Hebron to practice his trade. When the Korean Conflict broke out he again enlisted in the US Navy this time he was discharges in 1953. He married Mary Dillon in Baltimore, Maryland. They had three children Sandree, Wilbur and Gary. In 1960 he moved to Chicago and worked for the Chicago Transit Authority as a subway train driver. He married Gerda Dietrick in 1964. Upon retirement he again returned to Hebron to enjoy his retirement years. He entered the Richardton Health Care Center when the ravage of Alzheimer?s required Wilbur to have full time assistance.
