Funeral Mass for William”Bill” L. Franchuk , 84, of Ann Arbor, MI formerly of Dickinson, will be 1:30 p.m., Thursday, September 6, 2012 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Dickinson. Burial will follow in St. Wenceslaus Cemetery.
Visitation for Bill will be from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at Stevenson Funeral Home.
Bill’s life was claimed by cancer on August 10, 2012 in Ann Arbor.
Bill served with the US Army in the Korean War where he earned a purple heart. Bill returned to Dickinson where he lived with his parents and helped them with their farming. He farmed his own property in Fryburg until about the summer of 2010. After retirement, he moved to Michigan where he was closer to a VA hospital, and he followed his passion to the serve the LaRouche Movement. Bill enjoyed getting together with friends and talking politics and farming. He was knowledgeable on many subjects. He was an avid reader, and enjoyed music. He played polkas on the accordion and enjoyed listening to classical music.
Bill is survived by his brothers, Joe (Lillian) Franchuk of Chilicothe, OH, Dave (Helen) Franchuk of Dickinson, George (Mary) Franchuk of Georgetown, TX, and a sister, Lorraine (Clem) Plummer of Sunnyvale, CA; sisters-in-law, Elsie Frankchuk of Dickinson, and Delores Franchuk of Missoula, MT.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Mary Franchuk; and brothers, Edmund, Richard, and Leonard Franchuk.
