William Jones

Funeral services for William G. Jones, 89, of Glen Ullin will be 11:00 am CDT, Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at First Congregational United Church of Christ in Glen Ullin with Pastor Marcy Dawson officiating. Burial will follow in Glen Ullin Cemetery. Visitation for William will be from 10:00 a. m. to 11:00 a. m. CDT at the church. William passed away Thursday, April 2, 2015 at Sanford Health in Bismarck, ND. William Gerald Jones was born April 20, 1925 in Glen Ullin, ND the son of Thomas and Mary (Hermes) Jones. He grew up on the family farm southwest of Glen Ullin and attended country school near the farm and in Glen Ullin. After school, Bill continued to work on the farm. On January 20, 1953 Bill and Eleanor Wetzel were united in marriage in Glen Ullin. The couple made their home on the farm until 1975 when they moved to the farm east of Glen Ullin and have made it their home ever since. Bill operated a cattle buying business with Jc Stevenson for many years. He also ranched and farmed in Glen Ullin area. Bill was a big socializer and enjoyed being around people. He liked to tell jokes and pull pranks. April Fool’s Day was celebrated by Bill until the very end of his life. He enjoyed fishing in his younger years and broke a lot of horses in early days. Bill loved dancing, attending rodeos, and gambling at Prairie Knights Casino. Bill is survived by his daughters, Sandra (Paul) White of Bowman, ND, and Linda Jensen of Bismarck, ND; grandchildren, Stewart Jensen of Bismarck, Lindsey Jensen of MN, Jamie White of Seattle, WA, and Kayla (Steve) Bourgois of Bismarck, ND; great-grandson, Thomas Bourgois of Bismarck, ND; and numerous nieces, nephews, and in-laws. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Mary Jones; wife, Eleanor Jones; and a sister, Verna Jones.
