A funeral Mass for William “Billy” Weinberger, 77, of Glen Ullin will be 10:30 a. m. CST, Thursday, November 12, 2015 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Glen Ullin with Father Jeff Zwack celebrating. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart CemeteryVisitation for Billy will be 4:30 – 7:00 p. m. , CST, on Wednesday, November 11th with a rosary and vigil service being held at 6:00 p. m. CST. Billy passed away November 7, 2015 at his home in Glen Ullin. William “Billy” Leonard was born April 19, 1938 to Adam and Elizabeth (Seeberger) Weinberger on the family farm in Grant County, ND. He graduated from Glen Ullin High School and then went to college in Wahpeton, North Dakota. On October 14, 1958 Billy joined the United States Air Force. He was stationed in Germany, Alaska, Texas and Minot. He was honorably discharged on October 11, 1963. Billy met and married Berna Gietzen in June of 1971. Everyone said they would not last because of their age difference, but they had been married almost 25 years when she passed away. Billy then met and married Lavon Gietzen on June 16, 1999 at the Ideal Farm. Some of his various jobs included owning the Gamble Store, a salesman for Lindsey Brothers, working at the Anhydrous Plant for the Glen Ullin Farmers Union, and a truck driver for the Glen Ullin Creamery. He also worked as a truck driver for a majority of his life. Billy enjoyed bowling, yard work, cooking, embroidering, maintenance, puttering around the garage and sipping on a glass of black velvet over ice. Billy is survived by his wife, Lavon Weinberger; brothers, Nick (Caroline) Weinberger of New Salem, ND, John Weinberger of New Salem, ND; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Adam and Elizabeth; first wife, Berna; sisters, Minnie Gietzen, Marian Schneider; and brothers, Ed, Adam, Peter and Leo Weinberger.
