Funeral Services for Willis Northrop, 82 of Dickinson, formerly of Belfield will be 10:00 a. m. Thursday, June 23, 2005 at the Belfield Lutheran Church with Pastor Roger Dieterle officiating. Burial will follow in the Belfield Lutheran Cemetery with Military Graveside Rites by the William C. Blair Post #144. Visitation will be Wednesday, June 22, 2005 from 9:00 a. m. to 9:00 p. m. at Stevenson-Mischel-Olson Chapel in Dickinson. Willis passed away Saturday, June 18, 2005 at St. Luke?s Home in Dickinson. Willis was born June 20, 1922 on the family ranch Northwest of Fairfield in Billings County. Willis attended rural schools near Fairfield. In 1932, the family moved to a ranch 15 miles farther west into the badlands. Willis served in the US Army from 1943 to 1945. He served in the European Theater and was wounded at the Normandy Invasion. After his honorable discharge, Willis returned to the family ranch where he lived until 1982 when he retired and moved into Belfield. He lived there until entering St. Luke?s Home in February of 2005. He was a member of the Belfield American Legion, Knights of Columbus in Dickinson, Disabled American Vets and a lifetime member of the Eagles. Willis was an outdoors man and loved hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed all sporting activities and in later years, working in his flower garden. Survivors include a niece, Waynette Gaunt of California and numerous cousins. Memorials may be given to the North Dakota Cowboy Hall of Fame, 1110 College Drive, Suite 216, Bismarck, ND 58501
