Funeral Mass for William “Bill” Wychanko, 78, of Dickinson will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, with Father Patrick Schumacher celebrating. Burial will follow in Dickinson Cemetery.


Visitation for Bill will be from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 3, 2012 at Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson, ND with a Rosary and Vigil service being held at 7:00 p.m.


Bill passed away Sunday, April 1, 2012 at St. Benedict’s Health Center in Dickinson.


William James Wychanko was born January 19, 1934 in Wilton, ND, son of Joseph and Anna (Gawryluk) Wychanko. He grew up and attended school in Wilton. In 1944, at a young age, he moved with his mother and family to Dickinson where he completed his school at St. Joseph’s Catholic Schooling. At the age of 17, he began working for the Burlington Northern Railroad; now known as the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad. He completed 42 years of active work. After his retirement, he continued to make Dickinson his home. Bill owned and piloted his own Piper Cherokee airplane, taking many trips around the country. On August 28, 1989, Bill and Agnes Weber were married. The couple enjoyed traveling, especially to Spain where they vacationed nine times. They also enjoyed their Persian cats, Julian & Sasha. Bill was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Fraternal Order of Eagles, Life Member of Knights of Columbus, Elks, and National Rifle Association.


Bill is survived by his wife, Agnes of Dickinson and three children from a previous marriage; sons, Quin (Naomi) Wychanko of Akron, OH and Cameron Wychanko of Dickinson; daughter, Camille O’Kara Hann of Dickinson; brother-in-law, Tony (Roni) Weber of Dickinson; sister-in-law, Eleanor Weber of Dickinson; and five grandchildren, Lorelei, Medora, Cameron II, Trevor, and Remington.


He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Mary Durks.
