Wilma Irene (Lacquement) Rusley was born January 20, 1945 in Borger, TX to Ralph Virgil Lacquement and Dorothy Irene Killman Lacquement. Their family traveled north with the oilfield, and there was one year when Wilma and her brother attended three different schools in one year. In 1959, they moved to Baker, and she was a member of the Class of 1963 – the first graduating class from the new Baker High School. She once said “I will never marry a rancher or live in the country”, but in October, she met John Robert Rusley, and on January 9, 1965, she married the love of her life. In 1967, they purchased the old Harold Rusley ranch, and to this union, three children – Robert Wayne, Phillip Bradley, and Katrina Angelina – were born. She had a sparkle in her eyes and a love for her family. Her children and grandchildren made her very proud. She loved them with all of her heart. She did not like to miss any of their events, be it volleyball, softball, basketball, Bump-N-Run races, baseball, concerts, or the county fairs. She would just go and go. She also loved to go camping and fishing when she and Robert could sneak away from the ranch. She was the best organizer around – always writing it down and making a list. She could find and recall almost anything. Grammy could tell how many people came to the brandings and what they brought. There was never a neighbor or a helping hand, crop adjuster, or brand inspector who would go hungry because they were always welcome at her table. Wilma traveled to many CowBelle and Cattlewomen conventions. She loved and supported the beef industry, and was an advocate for the land and natural resources. She was always giving to others and caring. She would share God’s promises everywhere she would go, and was a light for the world and Jesus. She was a member of the Baker CowBelles where she served 36 years as President, served in the past as Vice President of MT Cattlewomen, and was current Parliamentarian for MT Cattlewomen at the time of her death. In addition, Wilma was a member of the Fallon County FFA Alumni, Beef Boosters, Rainbows, Mary Circle Bible Study, 101 Community Club, American National Cattlewomen, and a Life Member of the Eastern Star. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, John Robert; her children Wayne (Sharina, Alexander, William, Christopher), Phillip (Lori, Dakotah, Maryssa), and Katrina (James, Kirsten, Garrett); her brother Kenneth Lacquement (Ida, Adam, Travis, Sarah); her brother-in-law Gary Rusley. She is preceded in death by her mother Dorothy and her father Ralph, and stepmother Rose Varner Lacquement. Memorials can be made in honor of Wilma Rusley to Baker CowBelles, Wibaux County 4-H, and Superior Care Villa.
