Yvonne Bagley

Funeral Mass for Sylvia “Yvonne” Bagley, 90, of Marmarth, will be held at 10:00am Tuesday, June 11, 2019 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church Marmarth, ND with Father Paul Eberle celebrating. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery.


Visitation for Yvonne will be from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Monday, June 10, 2019 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with a rosary service at 6:00 p.m.


Yvonne passed away Saturday, June 1, 2019 at Fallon Medical Complex.


Sylvia “Yvonne” Bagley was born to John and Sylvia (McNew) Richmond in Snohomish, WA on October 11, 1928. Yvonne grew up in Marmarth, ND and attended school there until the ninth grade. She then moved to California where she met Robert Christy and the two were married on October 14, 1944. To this union John “Butch” was born. On June 16, 1945, Robert passed away and Yvonne moved back to Marmarth. Upon return she worked at the Beanery. On November 2, 1946 she married Bill Bagley and to this union Bonnie, Peggy, Bill and Cindy were born. They raised their family in Marmarth and Yvonne worked at Mert’s Café for many years.


Anyone who entered her home was considered family. Yvonne warmed everyone’s heart with the wonderful food she prepared. No one ever left her house hungry and without a good dose of wit and humor. Yvonne is best known for her potato salad and caramel rolls.


Faith was of the utmost importance to Yvonne and she was a proud member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and participated in the Alter Society. She was also a member of the Little Missouri Saddle Club. Yvonne was very proud to place Veteran flags at the Riverside Cemetery on Memorial Day weekend for 60 plus years.


Yvonne is survived by her sons, John (Karen) Bagley, and Bill (Mary Ellen) Bagley; daughters, Bonnie Erickson, Peggy Smith and Cindy Thompson; brother Ronnie Richmond; grandchildren, Christen, Carrie, Christi, Raedel, Kasi, Jennifer, Jamie, Heather, Kellie, Karrol, Karmen, Will and Matt; 22 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren.


She is preceded in death by her parents John and Sylvia Richmond; step-mother Ann Richmond; brother Gordon Richmond; sister Barbara Williams; husbands Robert Christy and Bill Bagley; infant sons William H. and Richard J.; grandchildren, KJ Erickson, Kandi and Dustin Koenig; sons-in-law Wally Erickson, Frank Thompson and Wayne Lesofski.


Yvonne has requested in lieu of flowers that donations be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Marmarth, ND for the catechism kids to receive new books.
