She then moved to California where she met Robert Christy and the two were married on October 14, 1944. To this union John “Butch” was born. On June 16, 1945, Robert passed away and Yvonne moved back to Marmarth. Upon return she worked at the Beanery. Anyone who entered her home was considered family. Yvonne warmed everyone’s heart with the wonderful food she prepared. No one ever left her house hungry and without a good dose of wit and humor. Yvonne is best known for her potato salad and caramel rolls.
Faith was of the utmost importance to Yvonne and she was a proud member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and participated in the Alter Society. She was also a member of the Little Missouri Saddle Club. Yvonne was very proud to place Veteran flags at the Riverside Cemetery on Memorial Day weekend for 60 plus years.
