William Dohrmann was born on September 7, 1940 to Kenneth and Laura Vivian (Neal) Dohrmann in Richardton, ND. He grew up on the family farm, northwest of Taylor and graduated from Taylor High School in 1958. After graduation, he attended North Dakota State University majoring in Ag Economics, playing trumpet in the Gold Star Marching Band and serving in the Air Force ROTC. Being devoted to the farm he would return there for seeding in the spring.
In 1957, he met Jeanette Perhus and the two were married June 16, 1961 at Immanuel Church of Taylor. After marriage, they returned to Bill’s family homestead where they were blessed with 6 children.
Bill loved his church, working cattle and working the land. He loved being outdoors,Sunday drives to Medora, and could frequently be found taking grandkids for rides on his ATV when they were home.
He loved visiting with friends and family, best served with a good slice of pie and a cup of coffee. Bill was happiest when teasing kids & grandkids and the love of his life, Jeanette.
In his earlier years, he was very active in 4-H.
He was an active member of the Immanuel Church of Taylor and served on the Church board for many years.
He received the Outstanding Agriculturist Award from NDSU, served on the Central Stark Soil Conservation District as Supervisor, receiving the Goodyear/NACD award of merit for his outstanding accomplishments in resource conservation. He also served on the Taylor Firemen’s board and Taylor school board.
Upon Bill’s retirement from farming, he went to work at RMC. He later worked at Runnings where he took pride in helping local farmers locate supplies while catching up on local events. He especially enjoyed helping customers that came in with frustrating, seemingly unfixable situations, and being able to offer them solutions.
He is survived by his wife, Jeanette; son, LJ (Janet), Taylor, ND; daughters, Lynnelle (Jeff), Peoria, AZ, Karen (Brent), Williston, ND, Jessi (Dana), Fargo, ND, Leah (Steve), Frederick, MD, 4 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; sister, Darlene Wolf, Bismarck, ND.
